I. Explanation
The six-position directional control valve is used in conjunction with a six-position shift cylinder to control the cylinder’s operation and thereby drive the engine. This valve has a wide range of applications and is highly regarded, primarily serving as the main shifting actuator for large workover rigs and other heavy-duty equipment during operation and movement.
II. Operating Principle
The six-position shift valve has six operating positions: neutral (N), F1, F2, F3, F4, and F5. The control lever is evenly distributed along an arc between the neutral (N) position and the F5 position, providing six distinct positions. The connection plate is equipped with ports 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 for external connections. The operating principle of the six-position shift valve is as follows: when the valve is set to neutral (N), the engine idles; advancing the lever to the F1 position initiates the slowest engine speed; continuing to advance to F2 through F5 progressively increases the engine speed. Users can select the appropriate speed for their specific application.
First, the intake port is the side-mounted P port; port #4 is the exhaust port, and port #1 is sealed off and not used.
When the shift lever is in neutral (N): no output from any port.
Handle lever in F1 gear: 5-port output
Shift the handle lever into F2 gear: 5, 6 output ports
Shift the gear lever into F3, with outputs at ports 3, 5, and 6.
Handle lever in F4 gear: 3-port output
Handle lever in F5 gear: 6-port output
III. Precautions
1. Operating pressure should be between 0.45 and 0.6 MPa; exceeding this range will shorten the service life and make operation more difficult.
2. The six-position directional control valve is a precision component that operates on clean, lubricated air free of water mist; therefore, it must be used in conjunction with an air preparation unit comprising a filter, regulator, and lubricator. Adhering to these two requirements can significantly extend the service life of the six-position directional control valve.
