I. Overview
The 23ZS21-25D two-position three-way rotary valve consists of a rotating shaft, handle, positioning plate, cylindrical pin, valve cover, one-way thrust ball bearing, valve spool, stop, valve seat, O-ring seal, wave spring, valve body, steel ball, spring, and other components. The two-position three-way rotary valve is one of the primary hydraulic components in the surface blowout preventer control system. High-pressure hydraulic fluid from the accumulator flows through this valve to each control actuator; at the same time, the valve’s directional switching enables the blowout preventer to be opened or closed.
II. Characteristics
The spool and seat of the 23ZS21-25D two-position three-way rotary valve employ differential-pressure sealing; therefore, the higher the oil pressure, the better the gas-tightness and the more reliable the seal. The corrugated spring provides a self-compensating function to compensate for wear on the primary seat. Equipped with a thrust bearing, the 23ZS21-25D rotary valve requires only a small switching torque—no more than 30 N·m—during direction change. At the top of the valve cover is a positioning plate; as the handle is turned, a steel ball, under spring action, enters one of the holes in the positioning plate, while a cylindrical pin slides within the oblong slot in the plate to provide limit-stop functionality. Consequently, when the valve switches direction, the handle reaches its target position with high precision, ensuring more reliable switching and resetting.
III. Precautions
The two-position three-way rotary valve employs a shear-type seal, offering strong resistance to contamination and virtually eliminating the risk of failure due to blockage or similar issues. If it is determined that a sealing component—such as the valve spool, retaining ring, valve seat, or wave spring—has failed, the four screws connecting the cover to the valve body can be removed to separate the cover from the body, thereby allowing for the removal and replacement of the valve spool, retaining ring, valve seat, or wave spring.
