I. Explanation
1. The seven-position shift valve is used in conjunction with the seven-position shift cylinder; it controls the cylinder to enable the engine to operate. The seven-position shift valve features seven operating positions—reverse (R), neutral (N), and forward gears F1, F2, F3, F4, and F5. The connection plate has ports 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6, with port P serving as the air inlet and port 4 as the exhaust outlet.
2. Compared with six‑position and eight‑position shift valves, the seven‑position shift valve incorporates an additional gear‑positioning system, enabling both “continuously variable” and “direct‑pull” shifting, which facilitates faster control of engine upshifts and downshifts.
II. Operating Principle
The seven‑position shift valve has seven operating positions: reverse (R), neutral (N), and forward gears F1, F2, F3, F4, and F5. The lever is evenly spaced along an arc between the reverse (R) and fifth‑forward (F5) positions. When the lever is in the neutral (N) position, the rocker tab at the lower end of the lever presses against the external contact of the neutral‑lock switch, closing the internal contacts of the switch and energizing the starter circuit to engage the starter motor.
In summary:
Move the handle lever to the N position; at this setting, no air pressure is output from any of the outlets.
Shift lever in R gear: 2 outputs
Shift the lever into F1 gear: 5‑port output.
Shift lever in F2 gear: output at ports 5 and 6.
Handle lever shifted into F3 gear: outputs at ports 3, 5, and 6.
Shift the gear lever into F4: 3‑port output.
Handle lever in F5 gear: 6-port output
III. Precautions for Use
1. Operating pressure of the shift valve: 0.45 MPa–0.6 MPa
2. Working medium: The shift valve is a precision valve; the working medium must be clean, water-free, and lubricated air. It can be used in conjunction with an air preparation unit, which can significantly extend the service life of the seven-position shift valve.
